Board Game: The Goblin King is Angry!

I know that I tend to keep the focus of my blog on books and writing in general, but I wanted to talk about some of my other interest too. After all, it’s my platform, I can do what I want!

So, I’m going to talk about board games!

Right now, an awesome board game is up on kickstarter over here. If you have ever played a tower defense game, where you construct towers to defeat waves of monsters, then you got an idea of what this game is about. The big twist here is that you’re not playing the heroic defenders of the kingdom; rather you’re the goblins! You send out wave after wave of goblins and try to destroy the caste and get the goblin king’s favor.

I have played an in-development version of the game a few times, and had a ton of fun with it. There is a surprising depth in the simple concept because you have to consider both attack and defense simultaneously. However, the (almost) mindless goblins make the attack strategy predictable and greatly speeds up game play. Personally, I love how quick this game plays, and the flexibility the goblin generals impart to repeat plays.

Here’s the fun part for me, I’m going to try and get a cameo appearance of Lissa the henchman in the game. So, if you’re a fan of Hench and like board games, check out this kickstarter. If all the little details work out you’ll be able to foil you opponents plans with a henchman to help an enemy adventurer. I’m so hyped!
